About us

After years within the camping and glamping industry, helping to set up many glamping sites, we wanted to do more for our environment. So a few like minded individuals founded BeeGreen Camping Club, an exempted organisation that can issue exemption certificates in wales allowing our members up to 5 huts/pods and 10 tents without the need for planning permission.

We simply ask that you implement  www.bumblebeeconservation.org bee saving strategy on all our sites. By planting a few bee friendly flora around your site, you can quickly get your dream glamping site up and running. Apply here today using our online application form.

To date we've help create over 30 glamping sites ranging from rural off grid, to sites around the coasts, we've sent our huts down the lands end and up to the Scottish boarder, so we know a thing or 2 about glamping.

Becoming a member gives you access to all our certified sites and the ones in England and Scotland who have chosen to implement our bee saving strategies

Running your own site

Starting a glamping site by going through the planning system can be next to impossible. In the rare case that planning is approved it will likely have cost you a small fortune with surveys, reports etc. by using us as an exempted organisation we can skirt the need for planning to get your up and running legally. We will contact your local planning dept and inform them of your plans.

We're looking for like minded site owners that share our ethos in conservation, we love rural sites that will provide relaxing and peaceful stays. Off grid isn't a problem and unlike nearly all other organisations, we don't require you live on site. You must provide drinking water and toilets. This can be bottled water and a compost loo if in a rural location. So whether you want to start you glamping site near your home with all the luxuries or further afield with a back to basics approach we can help.

The amount of accommodation that we grant a licence for will depend on the size of your site and the facilities provided. Each site will be assessed on it’s individual merits.

Suitable land/sites

Any units must be well screened/sheltered. Open sites that are visible to surrounding areas will generally not be suitable. Some sites may benefit and be improved by way of tree planting/hedging.

other barriers to certification:

Any close by neighbours (within 200m) who disagree with your site and will be effected by it.

Not providing neighbours details.

Poor access onto the public highway. Near busy roads.

If an article 4 direction has been served on the land/local area which prohibits camping. Or any other enforcement action.

Being within the ‘curtilage’ of a listed building may not be suitable.

An exemption certificate does not allow for permanent construction of buildings or ground works The exemption certificate only allows for moveable structures such as shepherd huts. Pods are also accepted due to being able to be moved quickly by a hiab. No footings may be used and any decks must be freestanding and sitting on top on the ground, the area must be returned to its natural conditions within 48 hours if your exemption certificate is revoked.

Your exemption may be revoked at any time due to repeated nuisance behaviour and complaints from neighbours etc.

How much does it  cost?

£600 consultation fee, then if successful, a £400 annual membership fee. This is for up to 5 huts/pods and 10 tents pitches. Please fill in the application form, we will then contact you for payment to begin the consultation, and conduct a site survey, we will then inform your local planning department of our intention to issue you with an exemption certificate.
